Before opening New York Nails with her sister Yan, Li was the leading actress of the Beijing Opera Troupe of Yunnan and graduate of the Chinese Opera Institute. She performed for numerous occasions in China, including the opening ceremony of the 11th Asian Games. Currently a Winter Park resident, Li has lectured and performed in Orlando on a limited basis. She also performed at the 2001 ACADEMY AWARDS as the Chief Singing & Acting role for Best Music, Original Song Nominee: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Li also performed with the 2011 Beijing Opera at Lincoln Center in New York City, playing the Chief Actress in an operatic and dramatic role. Li loves her "new career" at New York Nails & Spa and is happy to share her wonderful life stories with clients.
Before starting the NY Nails & Spa with her sister Li, Yan was a print and stage model in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, China. In 1991 she won 1st place in the Weifang China International Kite Festival Beauty Pageant competition. At the very young age of 18, Yan became Assistant Director of the Famous Chinese Costumes Show Group and from 1991-1994 she was lead performer with the group at Splendid China in Kissimmee Florida. In 1995, Yan move to New York City searching for the real “American Dream”. After several career paths, she discovered and fell in love with Nail Art. She studied, trained and in 1997 completed her certification in New York City. Yan is loved by her staff and is always on top of the latest nail trends and techniques which clients love to hear and experience.
